Outdoor Lighting Associations and Directories

American Society of Landscape Lighting (ASLA)

National Lighting Franchise, NiteLites, maintains membership in the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and collaborates with their membership of landscape architects and designers when their projects call for specification grade outdoor lighting.

The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA)

NiteLites Outdoor Lighting manufactures energy efficient lighting fixtures which minimize excessive glare, light trespass, and general light pollution and meet the International Dark Sky’s (IDA) criteria. Some of these NiteLites fixtures are featured on the IDA website. The International Dark Sky Association is a membership-based non-profit organization. Their mission is to work to preserve and protect the nighttime environment and our heritage of dark skies through quality outdoor lighting. The association’s approach to this goal is to encourage outdoor lighting manufacturers and lighting designers to utilize fixtures which do not emit light that shines above the fixture itself as well as for the fixtures to be low voltage. In general, their position is that all outdoor fixtures should be fully shielded and installed in such a way that no light is emitted above the lowest part of the fixture. In this way, excessive glare, light trespass, and light pollution are minimized.
